e-Books

The library has been purchasing more books in an e-format. All of these titles are included in the VSC Online Catalog and are designated “[electronic resource]“. When you look at the details for these titles there will be an access link below the holdings information:

You can also limit a catalog search to e-books by using the Advanced Search. After using the dropdown menus to select library:Lyndon State College, select format:Books and type:Ebook.

Another option is to search the Library’s databases for e-books.

Open-access e-Books

  • Digital Book Index
    A combined catalog for several major e-Book sites, along with thousands of smaller specialized sites. Each e-book’s record states whether access is free or not.
  • Google Books
    Digital images of more than 15 million books.
  • HathiTrust
    Digital images of more than 5 million books.
  • Internet Archive: Text Archive
    Digital images of almost 3 million open-access books.
  • The Online Books Page
    “An index of over one million online books freely readable on the Internet”, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
  • Bartleby
    Open-access books, focusing on reference texts.
  • Project Gutenberg
    Online transcriptions of 36,000 out-of-copyright books.
  • Inkmesh
    A search engine for locating e-books, including free titles.
